The Spirit Bares it's teeth - Andrew Joseph White
I loved this book. It was captivating the whole way through and very easy to read, I was always wondering what was next and the writing style was nice and viceral when it comes to the horror bits and delightfully unsettlings. The topics of Autism and being trans and queer were handled very well. I didn't pick up of much of a theme but that's ok, themes are very abstract concepts anyway and can be handled differently depending on the person reading. I find Andrew Joseph White's books to be quite compelling and horrifying and this one was no different. Great second book to come from him, also the cover art is gorgous as are the ones of his other books. I would have liked to see a deeper exploration of Silas's gender journey? I find that having Silas have a bit more doubt about his gender in the begininning and then accept it more over time would have been an interesting concept to explore. Gender isn't found in a day.

Hell of a Book - Jason Mott
I read this book in school and it's the book I think I have ever read for a class. It's funny, it's an interesting commentary, and it's personal. It is so vauge and makes the reader question if it is real or not at all times or if it even matters if any of the scenes are "real". It's told in such a way that there isn't a direct answer to what it all means. It's constantly flipping between expressing everything as being in a dream and nothing being in a dream. It's magical realism at it's finest. I loved this book, it deals with the topic of racism and how it infects the present time even when people don't think it does and the apathy of trying to stop it in such an intereting and unique and human way. There is no way racism will truly be removed but we can atleast try and go against it, atleast that's how I interepeted it. Would reccomend, reminds me of Kafka. I wish the kid had more memoriable scenes though, none of the scenes were bad but besides the final one with him, they aren't memorible, but that might just be me.

The Great Gatsby - F.Scott Fitzgerald
It was pretty good. I understand why it's a classic. It's a good artifact of it's time and at it's best it's quite capitvating and interesting, the way it's written is also unique, the secondary person pov is unique. The themes are interesting, it can really be intereptated through many ways which is always good for a classic. The book get's somewhat confusing at some points however, near the end I was a little confused but maybe it was because I was losing a little bit of intrest in the characters or wasn't keeping track of them all. It's a good classic and an ok book. If I didn't choose to read It I would most likely hate it more but It was good.

The Summer Hikaru died (vol 1) - Mokumokuren
I absolutly adore this first volume, it does exactly what it sets out to do and is so captivating. The Art is so disgusting and beautiful at the same, the horror element is implementad so well, the fact that the queer relationship is integrated in a way that isn't sexualalized or fetishized or used as a way to go "ooh gay people spooky" is really one of it's kind. I love this book and can't wait to see more, there isn't much I can say to change but I do hope it gets sadder and more terrifying as the series continues.

Heartstopper - Alice Oseman
Honestly Hearstopper was just kind of Meh for me. I Didn't really connect to any of the characters or had events that helped them become easier to connect to and the problems of the story should have had warnings and were caused by more things then outside sources. It really felt more like a fluff fanfiction which is good for a webcomic but not that good for a store release or a tv show. I think it should have stayed a webcomic but had patreon exclusive or website exclusive releases as a book not a store release. It just doesn't work well as a graphic novel. I also wish they fleshed out the main characters more and gave them more flaws and interests that they could connect on or had them had more trouble communicating? they are highschoolers afterall.
